On Friday, February 3 I went to the 12th Annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational at The Armory in New York City. There were about 130 colleges represented, including international teams from Canada, France and Ireland. The level of athleticism and competition was absolutely extraordinary and quite frankly, impossible to capture in a photograph. Throughout the invitational, there were field events and running events, and the atmosphere was full of energy. One thing I noticed was neon – almost all the runners wore beautifully, clean, neon running shoes. I spent the day taking it all in and trying to capture the skill of these young athletes on film.
